Według świeckich podań ludowych święty Krzysztof był potężnym mężczyzną. Obdarzony niewyobrażalną siłą, przenosił pielgrzymów przez rzekę. W ikonografii przedstawiany jest z dzieckiem na ramionach, gdyż, według legendy, pewnego dnia miał pomóc w przeprawie Jezusowi.

As the secular legends say, saint Christopher was a man of enormous size. He was gifted with unbelievable strenght and his job was to carry the passers-by through the river. In the iconography he is pictured with a little boy in his hands becouse it is said that one day when he was to help Jesus with getting to the second side of the river.
